From November 17 to 18, 2022, the online conference of "The 12th National Oral Biomedical Academic Annual Conference 2022 of the Oral Biomedical Professional Committee of the Chinese Oral Association" was successfully held, sponsored by the Oral Biomedical Professional Committee of the Chinese Stomatological Association and undertaken by the School & hospital of stomatology, Wenzhou Medical University. Nearly 4,000 delegates from more than 700 institutions across the country attended the event online, and nearly 40,000 people watched and shared the academic feast.

At the opening ceremony, Wang Songling, Academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Vice President of Capital Medical University and vice President of Chinese Stomatological Association, Li Xiaokun, academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering and President of Wenzhou Medical University, and Professor Li Tiejun, president of the conference, vice president of Peking University School of Stomatology, executive director of Chinese Stomatological Association and chairman of the oral Biomedical Committee of Chinese Stomatological Association, delivered the speech. Professor Ma Jianfeng, Secretary of the Party Committee of School & hospital of stomatology, Wenzhou Medical University, delivered the welcome speech.

Academician Wang Songling, on behalf of the Chinese Stomatological Association, extended warm congratulations on the successful opening of the annual conference. He pointed out that the national Annual Conference of oral biomedicine is a high-level academic exchange platform set up for the national oral medicine researchers to go in the forefront of the development of oral medicine research. At present, the annual conference had formed a number of theme sections with distinctive characteristics. He stressed that the committee attaches great importance to providing an academic exchange platform for young talents to help them grow up. He hoped that through this conference, scholars can continuously produce innovative academic achievements, grow into the backbone of the development of Chinese stomatology field, and lead the innovative development of Chinese stomatology.

Prof. Li Xiaokun, Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering and President of Wenzhou Medical University, extended warm congratulations on the opening of the conference on behalf of Wenzhou Medical University and expressed heartfelt thanks to all the experts attending the conference. He pointed out that pharmacy is the characteristic and advantageous discipline of Wenzhou Medical University, hoping that oral medicine and pharmacy can integrate and develop, opening up a path of development with discipline characteristics, and boost the in-depth integrated development of oral biomedicine. He also hoped that Stomatology of Wenzhou Medical University could seize the historical development opportunity by this annual meeting, to help the college · hospital to a new level.

Prof. Li Tiejun, on behalf of the Oral Biomedical Committee of the Chinese Oral Medical Association, extended warm congratulations on the successful opening of the conference. He said that the contents of the four themed sections of the Annual Conference of Oral biomedicine fully show the academic style of all kinds of leading talents and young talents in stomatology, and I hope that the scholars attending the conference can gain and feel from the wonderful academic reports in each section. He fully affirmed the rapid development of the stomatology of Wenzhou Medical University, and said that in the context of the complex and changing situation of epidemic prevention and control, the successful online annual meeting could not be held without the hard work of the sponsors and organizers.

Professor Ma Jianfeng delivered a speech. He firstly thanked the Professional Committee of Oral Biomedicine of the Chinese Stomatological Association for their trust and support to the School & hospital of stomatology, Wenzhou Medical University, allowing Wenzhou Medical University to undertake this high-level academic event of stomatology. In response to the epidemic prevention and control policies, the annual meeting was changed from offline to online, where oral celebrities gathered "in the cloud" to discuss new concepts and technologies in the field of oral biomedicine. Focus on the hot topic  Industry leaders gather to discuss

In this meeting, renowned experts and scholars at home and abroad, including Academician Wang Songling of Capital Medical University, Academician Wang Cunyu of University of California, Los Angeles, Academician Chai Yang of University of Southern California, Professor Chen Wanjun of National Institutes of Health and Academician Li Xiaokun of Wenzhou Medical University, will be invited to make special presentations on hot issues of oral biomedicine.

Academician Li Xiaokun described that growth factors are widely involved in life regulation and are closely related to oral development, microbiome, tumor, tissue regeneration and repair and other oral fields. Innovative ideas of growth factors in oral biomedicine such as oral microbiome, tumor, tissue regeneration and repair are put forward. Taking rhbFGF gel as an example, the team introduced the preparation of rhbFGF gel, the effect and mechanism of alveolar bone repair, and the research and development of new preparation, which provided a new idea for the research and innovation of growth factor in oral field.

Academician Wang Songling revolves around "tooth and jaw development model and molecular mechanism", starting from the challenges of non-physiological denture restoration and the clinical needs of biological complete tooth regeneration. This paper systematically introduces the team's research progress in mouse, pig and human tooth development model and molecular mechanism, Research progress of whole tooth regeneration based on developmental principle, and points out that in situ regeneration of whole tooth and jaw based on developmental principle is the development direction in the future.

Using the mouse model of human head and neck squamous cell carcinoma, Academician Wang Cunyu confirmed that CD276, as an important molecule of cancer stem cells, is closely related to the occurrence and development of cancer. CD276 antibodies promote the apoptosis of cancer stem cells and inhibit cancer growth, while CD8+T cells eliminate cancer by inhibiting CD276 and reducing cancer epithelial-mesenchymal metastasis. The results suggest that CD276 can be used as a potential target for immunotherapy of human head and neck squamous cell carcinoma.

Academician Chai Yang has made pioneering research in the field of molecular regulation of cell types during craniofacial development. His team introduced the comprehensive localization and cellular pedigree regulation of dental mesenchyma, as well as the regulatory mechanism of tooth morphogenesis. It clarifies the spatio-temporal movement and dynamic fate of cranial nerve crest cells after migration, which has important guiding significance for the prevention of developmental deformities of mandible and teeth.

Professor Chen Wanjun described the effects of T cell silence and activation on oral and systemic immunity and disease. It was found that the down-regulation of TβR1 mediated by TCR was the third signal of complete T cell activation. This discovery changes people's view that dual signals are needed for initial T cell activation and promotes further research on the immune mechanism of autoimmune diseases, cancer and infectious diseases.

During the conference, activities such as electronic journal exhibition of new talents in oral biomedicine and selection of oral biomedicine youth research exhibition were also held. More than 150 national oral biomedical clinical and basic research projects were displayed online electronic wall, and 24 young talents from various universities participated in the selection of oral biomedical Youth research exhibition.

At the closing ceremony, Prof. Ye Ling, chair-designate of the Oral Biomedical Professional Committee of the Chinese Dental Association, Vice President of Sichuan University and president of West China School of Stomatology, announced the winners list of the 11th Oral Biomedical Youth Research Exhibition and delivered the closing speech. She hoped that in the future, people can organically combine basic research, clinical research and translational research, so as to make more contributions to stomatology. She also hoped that more young scholars can step on the stage and represent the power of stomatology in China to voice "Chinese voice".
